Travis Marc is a singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist musician originally from Johannesburg, South Africa now based in the county of Berkshire, United Kingdom. Drawing from a vast amount of diverse influences he creates a unique blend of music, on which he arranges, composes and performs everything. In addition a his achievements as a songwriter, and varied session work as a sideman Travis is also currently the lead singer/drummer for UK based Alternative/Rock band ‘Dead Days’.
Travis first relocated to the U.K in 2005 after being signed to Manifesto/Universal Records with Pop group ‘Plastic Dreams’, after his own group ‘Pyramid Tongue’ went on hiatus after years of constant touring. Although ‘Plastic Dreams’ eventually disbanded, the group did achieve moderate success by embarking on a number of regional tours within the U.K as well as reaching #8 on the U.K Billboard charts with their single ‘Fuse’. Before his time with ‘Plastic Dreams’ Travis was the lead singer/rhythm guitarist for popular South African Rock group ‘Pyramid Tongue’. Some of the ‘Pyramid Tongue’ achievements include –
Signing to Legend Music/Universal Records, (S.A). Performing numerous gigs supporting ‘Seether’. Breaking attendance records at established venues across S.A, including the world renowned Roxy’s and Tempo’s Beat Bar clubs. Winning the RP Studios Emerging Sounds battle of the bands (the biggest South African based battle of the band type competition at the time). The band also achieved the #5 spot on the 5FM Modern Rock Chart with there single ‘Sterilizing Agony’ and #12 with a single called ‘Tender Loving Abuse’.
In 2008 Travis went on to form and front ‘Munkinpure’, an Alternative/Indie type group for which he again was lead singer and guitarist. ‘Munkinpure’ released three albums and did numerous shows across both S.A and the U.K before disbanding in 2015. Some of the ‘Munkinpure’ achievements include –
Signing to Inner Flame Records, (S.A). Performing every major festival in S.A, including Woodstock, Lucky Fish, Splashy Fen and more. Reaching the Finals of the Unsigned UK event and performing at the O2 Indigo. Playing at various gigs and events across the country alongside acts such as ‘Scouting For Girls’, ‘Funeral For A Friend’ and ‘N-Dubz’. Having their single ‘People Person’ included on the ‘Hope For Japan’ CD Compilation alongside Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban. The band also achieved the #1 spot on UJFM and #7 on Homebru Charts on Highveld Radio with their single ‘Beautiful Day’, as well as receiving national rotation for their single ‘Lower Act 1’.
In May 2016, Travis went on to form the Alternative/Rock band ‘Dead Days’, for which he is the lead singer/drummer. He also started his own label ‘Spotted Fish Records’ which handles all production costs, and distribution of all solo and ‘Dead Days’ material’. Although still very early days ‘Dead Days’ have already had success with a number of sold out gigs within the U.K and national playlisting with their first three singles, ‘Liar Liar’, ‘Try’ and ‘Don’t Mean’. Signing a publishing deal with Yell Music, London. Receiving national airplay with the b-side ‘Better Than Ever’, within both S.A and the U.K. Having a song that Travis penned called ‘Six Feet Under’ produced by Canadian Rockers ‘Billy Talent’ at Revolution Recording Studios in Toronto. Having ‘Liar Liar’ featured on the ‘Young Bloods’ cd compilation by renowned Rock DJ Gary Cool. Being featured on Kerrang and BBC radio stations.
In addition to all of the above, Travis has written music and/or performed as a sideman for numerous other artists and projects. Some of these highlights would include –
Drumming with industrial/percussion act ‘1st Project’ and touring countries such as the Seychelles and Jamaica to perform. Releasing an independent live DVD with ‘1st Project’, which received a SAMA nomination and peak time broadcasting on all S.A based mainstream television. Winning the 30 Seconds To Fame television program in S.A competing against the best talent the country had to offer. Performing at the Astoria, London and winning the best drummer award at the Global Battle Of The Bands with ‘Lonehill Estate’. (Competing with bands from 30 other countries). Being chosen to perform at the Cape Town, S.A, Coke Fest Festival with ‘Lonehill Estate’ alongside, ‘3 Doors Down’, ‘Hoobastank’, ‘Evanesance’ and ‘Stained’. Performing for an event attended by the late great ex South African President, Mr Nelson Mandela. Performing at the BRIT AWARDS with ‘Ellie Goulding’ in 2014. Performing on the ‘Red Or Black show with female pop group ‘Little Mix’. Performing numerous times for Country singer/songwriter ‘Laura Evans’, including performances at the renowned C2C Festival in London alongside ‘Brad Paisley’ and the ‘Zac Brown Band’. Writing and Producing the C.C Pedigree album (still in works).
