“Pool’s sound and presence are extremely full-on. Impacting the Audience like a truck”
The previous incarnation of Pool was formed in 2015 by Brad Sumner, Brandon Nijjar and Charlie Greenway. Ben Clarke learnt how to play bass after meeting the band at an early gig, under the name colours, and was initially involved through his work in art and film. Colours only had the intention of playing one gig yet decided to continue after getting booked to play multiple support slots around the midlands. In 2016 colours played their last gig under the name without Clarke at the now defunct Oobleck in Birmingham. Pool played their first gig with Ben in the summer of 2017. The new name came about back in 2015, while the band was still gigging under colours and various other one off names, and was intended for charlie’s girlfriend at the time. Who was also thinking about starting a band. After the project fell through the name was adopted to emphasise the movement away from colours and the development in sound. Colours song ‘Surfer Jain’ was released In July of 2018 along side ‘Dogma’.
